2022 EOLA-AMITY HILLS PINOT NOIR

Eola-Amity Hills AVA  •  $30

Following a late start thanks to a cold and wet spring, the vintage finished warm and dry, with many days in October topping off in the mid-80s. Fruit set was extremely healthy, and I dropped fruit to achieve a yield of 3 tons per acre.

This is a delicious young red wine – it's full and succulent, with fresh acidity and fine tannins on a medium long finish. The aromas showcase rich morello cherries, cedar, dusty earth, and vanilla (even though the wine is aged solely in neutral oak). The wine is round in the mouth, with bright cherry fruit and a suave tapered finish. The 2022 provides a lot of pleasure in its youth and I recommend drinking this while you age your 2021 Willamette Valley pinots.

20% whole cluster fermentation in open topped bins, with no additions other than 30 ppm SO2. Gentle maceration and cool fermentation temperatures ensured gentle extraction. 14 months in neutral French oak, racked once, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
